Spring Fashioning
An ode to Spring dressing with pieces I’m loving at the moment
Spring is finally here and I couldn’t be happier (my sinuses will say otherwise but I digress!)
Life is still lifeing but the birds are singing, the Sun is shining and I am prepping to finally welcome in the new year because we’re following mother natures rhythm over here friends.
With the new season comes new possibilities including many new things I’m loving at the moment and adding to my forever wish list. So if you’re looking for some new pieces to incorporate into your wardrobe this season, or just want to do a spot of window shopping to see what’s out there then this post is for you.
I was reminded very recently that if you’re thinking of adding a new piece to your wardrobe, the goal is to first make sure that it is versatile and can be worn with multiple pieces, three to five at least. That way you’re able to style the item multiple ways and get your moneys worth. We’re trying to shop responsibly remember!
For this post I’ve not only picked out pieces I love but also decided to create 10 looks for a myriad of occasions featuring a mish mash of staples and pieces that can be dressed up or down throughout the season.
And because Spring weather is so unpredictable, I wanted to have the option of being able to style these looks multiple ways. Think throwing the cardigans over your shoulders or tying them around your waist when it’s hotter. Then when temperatures drop, layer them on to complete the look.
I went back and forth with a lot of them so I decided to include what looks I initially put together to give you some context.
Now let’s get into these fits!
Look 1: I had first included a more dressier H&M top to this fit (see below) but it’s since sold out and instead chose a simple oversized t-shirt from COS.
I love this combo with the Bermuda shorts because you can dress it up or down depending on the accessories (I love a good accessory). And how good are these quilted satin flip flops from Mango?
Shorts, Uniqlo | Jacket, Bershka | T-shirt, COS | Bag, Sezane | Flip flops, Mango | Sunglasses, Jimmy Fairly | Ear cuff, Eliou | Ring, Moma’s Eye | Cuff Bracelet, COS
Look 2: When I first spotted this backless number I added it swiftly to cart! It’s the perfect ‘going out top’ which can be dressed up and can also be worn casually with a pair of shorts and flip flops during the Summer. We love a versatile piece. I wanted to also switch up the jean shape (I can’t get enough of wide legged pants right now) to try something different and went with this straight leg pair from Iconic Denim.
Top, Mango | Jeans, Iconic Denim | Blazer, & Other Stories | Bag, Mango | Necklace, Eliou | Kitten heel sandals, Steve Madden | Earrings, Anni Lu via Banana Republic | Sunglasses, Vehla | Cuff Bracelet, COS
Look 3: I wanted to style this asymmetric top and leopard print shorts together so worked around them to create this look. My initial choice of shoe were these glittery meduse sandals (which have been on my Wishlist for ages) but thought about switching them out with a pair of loafers instead (below).
I decided to go with the former as they bring a playfulness to the look and switched out the green Uniqlo bag for this gorgeous plum Yuzefi tote bag instead.
Top, & Other Stories | Blazer, Arket | Shorts, Adidas | Cardigan, Arket | Bag, Yuzefi | Sandals, Meduse | Gold rimmed glasses, Jimmy Fairly | Earrings, Pdpaola
Look 4: This outfit looked very different when I first put it together (see below).
I switched out the ruffled blouse for this backless number from Mango and included the cardigan as an extra layer to be worn around the waist or over the shoulder.
Top, Mango | Skirt, Massimo Dutti | Cardigan, Arket | Denim jacket, Levi’s | Bag, Yuzefi | Sneakers, Nike | Ring, Moma’s Eye | Ear Cuff, Eliou | Earrings, Anni Lu via Banana Republic
Look 5: Here’s another outfit which started off very differently (see below). I knew I wanted the plum coloured barrel pants from COS to be the main piece so kept working around them.
What started out as a very laid back fit at first later transformed into a more dressier one as I switched things out.
Shirt, Uniqlo | Blazer, & Other Stories | Barrel leg pants, COS | Earrings, PDPaola | Necklace, Parfois | Bag, Mango | Loafers, & Other Stories | Socks, & Other Stories
Look 6: Mango is really doing its thing this season and I’m loving it! I spied this dress from the brand and knew she had to make a feature. I love the gathered detail and flared design which would work with a lot of combinations. I initially styled it with this Bershka jacket (see below) which I still like but felt the trench would make it more ‘grown up’ and put together.
I’d switch out the shoes and style it with a pair of sneakers if I wanted to go with the polka dotted jacket.
Dress, Mango | Sweater, Arket | Trench, Mango | Bag, Sezane | Necklace, Eliou | Gold rimmed glasses, Jimmy Fairly | Earrings, PDpaola | Suede Ballerina flats, Arket
Look 7: The skirt was the base of this look and I played around with styling it with two different tops (see below). The graphic tee and suede ballerinas were my first option (left) before trying out the short sleeved shirt option on the right.
I decided to go with this long sleeved shirt with an office collar from Uniqlo, added this red sweater from Arket and kept these super cute leather polka dotted Nike Cortez.
Shirt, Uniqlo | Skirt, Arket | Denim Jacket, Levi’s | Sweater, Arket | Sneakers, Nike | Socks, & Other Stories | Bag, Parfois | Glasses, Jimmy Fairly | Earrings, PDpaola
Look 8: The only item in this look which was part of the original outfit is the t-shirt (see below). I completely switched it up because 1. the initial trench coat I styled it with sold out and 2. I wasn’t 100% convinced.
The final look I settled with below is laid back and no fuss. I’m also feeling the colour combination a lot better.
T-shirt, Henry Tiger via Zalando | Sweater, Arket, | Skirt, Massimo Dutti | Bag, Yuzefi | Loafers, & Other Stories | Necklace, Louise Damas | Beaded necklace, Parfois | Gold rimmed glasses, Jimmy Fairly
Look 9: This is one of the looks which didn’t change from the original idea aside from me including the cardigan. I’m very particular about my whites being the same white and I’m envisioning that these two pieces are a match in my head.
Top, & Other Stories | Shorts, Uniqlo | Blazer, Arket | Cardigan, Arket | Sunglasses, Vehla | Cardigan, Arket | Bag, Marimekko | Sandals, Kkerele | Ear cuff, Eliou | Ring, Moma’s Eye
Look 10: When I saw this printed shirt from Essential Antwerp which is part of their Peanuts™ Snoopy collection, I knew I wanted to add it to the list. I had initially styled this look with the now sold out Monki checkered trench and had to switch it out for something different (see below).
I looked for other checkered trenches but couldn’t find one which looked right and/or still had available sizing. I settled with the one below from Mango.
Shirt, Essential Antwerp | Jeans, Iconic Denim | Cardigan, Arket | Trench, Mango | Socks, & Other Stories | Loafers, & Other Stories | Bag, Sezane | Sunglasses, Vehla | Ear Cuff, Eliou
